In Silver, Brass, Bronze, Copper, Pewter and Zinc we can repair, restore or reproduce whatever necessary to renew a piece to look like new or old, as the case may be. Zinc is commonly referred to as “Pot Metal,” it seems to be a generic term for a low quality white color metal somebody cannot identify.
In our experience, from about 1860-1920, sculpture was produced for clocks, lighting and promotional ornaments out of Zinc. The material was inexpensive to produce, so sculpture was cast in parts, then soldered together, plated in Brass and finally Patinaed to appear as a beautiful Faux Bronze. We have managed to repair many such objects over the years. We cannot cast in Zinc, but repairs can be done and parts can be cast in other metals. This is also where the Lost Wax casting process is valuable in reproducing parts.
We also have available knife blade replacements, vanity set parts such as new bevel mirrors, comb replacements, wood or bone knobs or insulators for teapots. We also provide a Silver plating service.

These next two photos show what is involved in a rosin-filled repair. The picture on the left shows all of the rosin removed and the silver cleaned prior to doing repairs. The picture on the right shows the finished product.
